Appreciation

I would like to express heartfelt appreciation for the Ladies of the Royal Purple in Prince George. For over 20 years, they have graciously hosted an annual Strawberry Tea for over 100 seniors at our Complex Care Facility. Their event is always thoughtfully organized, inclusive, and warmly delivered—reaching even the most reclusive residents and those with dietary restrictions. Their personal touch, including involving retired members now in care, and their dedication in bringing all supplies and smiles, makes a lasting impact. We are truly grateful for their time, care, and continued commitment.

National and Provincial Projects

Brain Injury and Interpersonal Violence:

The Canadian Royal Purple Society (CRPS) is a national volunteer organization that has made brain injury awareness and prevention its central cause through the BrainLove campaign. This initiative, launched in partnership with brain injury associations across Canada, focuses on educating the public about brain injuries, particularly those resulting from interpersonal violence.

A key component of this campaign is "Purple Thursday," observed on the third Thursday of October. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the link between intimate partner violence (IPV) and brain injuries. Statistics indicate that one in three Canadian women experience IPV, and a significant number of these incidents involve trauma to the head, face, or neck, leading to brain injuries

To support survivors, CRPS lodges across the country organize various events and initiatives. For instance, in Victoria, British Columbia, a fundraiser was held at the Pendray Tea House to support survivors of domestic abuse who sustained brain injuries . Additionally, CRPS members prepare and distribute care bags containing essential items to women's shelters, demonstrating tangible support for those affected

Through these efforts, the Canadian Royal Purple Society aims to shed light on the often-overlooked issue of brain injuries resulting from interpersonal violence and to provide support to survivors across the nation.

Hearing and Communication:

The Canadian Royal Purple Society (CRPS) is deeply committed to supporting children with hearing and communication challenges through its national charity, the Elks & Royal Purple Fund for Children. Since 1956, this fund has provided vital assistance to children under 19 facing speech, language, and hearing disorders.

A cornerstone of their efforts is the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) initiative, which emphasizes the importance of newborn hearing screenings and timely access to services. In collaboration with Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC), CRPS advocates for standardized EHDI programs across the country to ensure early identification and support for hearing impairments.

The Fund also supports several specialized programs nationwide, including:

Through these initiatives, the Canadian Royal Purple Society continues to empower children with hearing and communication challenges, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to thrive.
